Prayer

                                         
The day we celebrate independence
in these United States of America
however lacking in unity, freedom
or clarity of vision they may be/
again presides; and so my prayer:
                                  
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          
                                           
                                             
Prayer on Independence Day
                                                
                                                   
      To each who ever was,
      now is,
      or ever will be
                                         
      among those                 
      we call human,              
      the Earth-alive,              
                                 
      whatever the                    
      horrors and                    
      pains of your being:           
                                             
      In the name of                  
      the Lord, Jesus Christ,               
      serenity and continuance in strength.
                                              
      In the name of                          
      the Lord, Jesus Christ,               
      thank you for all you have given;
                                       
      thank you for what                    
      through every new moment              
      you selflessly give.
